The voting challenge of Pfizer – Rome headquarter
Pfizer, a global pharmaceutical company, has long been committed to promoting democratic participation within its corporate sites. Managing the elections for Union Representatives posed a logistical challenge, particularly given the inefficiencies of traditional paper-based voting systems, which required voters to be physically present.
After a successful initial experience with digital voting at its Milan headquarters, Pfizer decided to expand the online system to include Union Rep elections at its Rome site. The aim was to replicate the benefits already achieved: increased accessibility, optimized management time, and a significant boost in participation.
The solution
For the 2024 Union Rep elections at the Rome site, Pfizer once again selected the Eligo platform, opting for a full-service management approach. This arrangement allowed the Eligo team to handle all operational phases, from configuring the electoral event to generating the scrutiny reports.
Key features of the project included:
- A unique ballot dedicated to both list and candidate voting;
- 48-hour consecutive voting period (November 5-6-7, 2024) to ensure maximum flexibility for voters;
- Implementation of OTP (One-Time Password) for advanced security, guaranteeing a secure and traceable authentication process.
Eligo provided continuous support throughout the electoral process, ensuring a smooth user experience and a high degree of technical reliability.
Results
Adopting digital voting at the Rome site yielded significant results:
- A turnout of 91% (233 voters out of 254 eligible), consistent with the high performance already seen in Milan;
- A simplified and transparent electoral process, appreciated by both the electoral committee and employees;
- A confirmation of the digital system’s validity over traditional paper methods, allowing Pfizer to save time and organizational resources.
This second experience with online voting further strengthened Pfizer’s confidence in the Eligo platform, demonstrating how technology can be a strategic ally for large companies seeking efficient and secure solutions to ensure internal democratic governance. It emphasized Pfizer’s commitment to fostering inclusive and effective corporate governance while maintaining high levels of reliability and security.
With Eligo, Pfizer continues to innovate its internal electoral and assembly processes, promoting an inclusive and efficiency-driven corporate culture.
